Haggard Retrieves Audiotape of Music

Posted by Yahoo News on March 16, 2003 at 21:07:44: By The Associated Press

AUSTIN, Texas - Country singer Merle Haggard (news) has retrieved an audiotape of some of his unreleased music from a woman he sued for allegedly stealing the cassette from his tour bus in 2001.  Kathy Schroeder denied stealing the tape, which she tried to auction on eBay for $325,000. Haggard dropped his lawsuit after getting the tape back. Other terms of the settlement were not made public.

Schroeder, a concert promoter, said a singer left the tape at her house and she tried to sell it to recover an estimated $80,000 she lost when Haggard canceled an October 2001 appearance. She has sued the singer over the cancellation.

Johnny Cash Treated for Pneumonia

Posted by Yahoo News on March 14, 2003 at 21:23:22:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Johnny Cash (news) is being treated at a Nashville hospital for pneumonia, a hospital spokeswoman said. The 71-year-old singer, who was admitted Monday to Baptist Hospital, is in stable condition, said Melissa Cantrell. "He has a slight case of pneumonia and we expect to release him soon," she said. Cash's manager, Lou Robin, said the singer is expected to be released sometime early next week.

Cash, who has scored dozens of hits including "I Walk the Line" and "A Boy Named Sue," suffers from autonomic neuropathy, a disease of the nervous system that makes him susceptible to pneumonia. Robin said Cash was diagnosed with the disease about 15 months ago. He was hospitalized in August for an allergic reaction, and twice in the fall of 2001 for bronchitis.

Dixie Chicks Pulled from Air After Bashing Bush

Posted by Jon Herskovitz / Yahoo News on March 14, 2003 at 21:29:29:

DALLAS (Reuters) - There are a lot worse things in country music than your wife leaving you or your dog dying. There's stations not playing your music because you done gone and said some things against the president. Music superstars the Dixie Chicks (news - web sites) are finding out that criticizing President Bush (news - web sites)'s plans for war in Iraq (news - web sites) can cost you air play, big time.

Country stations across the United States have pulled the Chicks from playlists following reports that lead singer Natalie Maines said in a concert in London earlier this week that she was "ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

Station managers said their decisions were prompted by calls from irate listeners who thought criticism of the president was unpatriotic.   The group, which got its start in Texas, was one of the darlings of this year's Grammy Awards. The three-woman band that blends blue grass and pop hooks has spawned legions of fans who embrace the ideals of strong women celebrated in some of the trio's songs.

One station in Kansas City, Missouri held a Dixie "chicken toss" party Friday morning, where Chick critics were encouraged to dump the group's tapes, CDs and concert tickets into trash cans.

QUESTION:
Back around 1960, there was a song on the radio about “I’ve Enjoyed As Much
of This As I Can Stand.” Do you know the name of the singer?

ANSWER:
“I’ve Enjoyed As Much of This As I Can Stand” was Porter Wagoner’s 15 chart
single. It peaked at # 7 in 1962 and was on the charts for 15 weeks.

Musikanterna på ovanstående inspelning var: Jimmy Day, steel – Don Warden, guitar – Buck Trent, banjo – Junior Huskey, bass – Cecill Brower, fiddle – Tommy Jackson, fiddle - Paul Ackerman, drums – Pig Robbins, piano och Anita Kerr Singers, back up vocals.
Ingen dålig orkerster om jag får säga vad jag tycker! Lyssna på Radio Lidingö 97,8 på tisdag så får ni höra låten! (Detta gäller förstås bara alla lyckliga stockholmare).
