Denna fredag blir nyhetsbrevet ganska kort men förhoppningsvis ändå intressant.

Dusty Owens Remembers Harold Morrison & Jimmy Gately

When I was at WWVA and The World's Original Jamboree in Wheeling in 1954, it was for me to form my first band, The Rodeo Boys. Lee Sutton, an announcer I was instrumental in bringing to WWVA from KWTO in Springfield, told me about two young boys in Springfield that would love to join me in Wheeling, Harold Morrison and Jimmy Gately. After hearing their audition tape, I hired them and they came to Wheeling. Harold played steel guitar and Jimmy played fiddle, sang a nice song, and fronted my show. They were both above average in talent. Harold began practicing the 5-string banjo constantly on the side, and this led to his comedy routine that he created in later years. Jimmy later fronted Bill Anderson's show and wrote a hit song for Sonny James, "The Minute You're Gone." He did some recording for Decca. Both of these people have passed on at a too early age, and I will tell you that I am greatful to have known them! -- Dusty Owens, Owner & CEO of TCM Radio and Admiral Records

THE DIXIE CHICKS...
The Chicks' third album HOME is half way to the Diamond status of their first two albums, having now sold a certified 5 million albums plus. ALSO, ABC prep reports that the Dixie Chicks' "Landslide" will be the only song by a country act on the GRAMMY NOMINEES 2003 compilation CD.
